Why Oakwood Psychology?
There are times in life when it’s important to reach out for help. Oakwood Psychology exists to meet the need for access to psychology services - wherever you are located.
Telehealth may be a good option if you:
live in a regional setting or have difficulty accessing a psychologist where you live
are a shift worker or travel frequently
are housebound
have young children or are a carer
simply prefer the flexibility and convenience
Seeing a psychologist can feel overwhelming - here is some information to help...
Do I need a referral?
You can see a psychologist without a referral.
However, if you have a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP you can claim a rebate from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Alternatively, if you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim for psychology services.
You can also self-fund sessions.

Helen is a registered psychologist with a passion for building hope and seeing lives lived to the full. She has a warm and collaborative approach and values developing strong therapeutic relationships. Using evidence-based treatment interventions, Helen works with clients to achieve positive outcomes, improved wellbeing, and meet individual goals. It's natural to have questions. Here are a few that are commonly asked:
Reach out via the website contact page, email, or by phone
You will be contacted to make an appointment, and a consent form will be emailed to you
Prior to your appointment, you'll be sent a telehealth link via email. When your appointment time arrives:
i) Get comfortable in a private space
ii) Use your computer, tablet or smartphone to click on the emailed link and you'll enter the virtual "waiting room"
iii) The psychologist will see you are online and will start the session
In certain circumstances the session can be done via a phone call.
Appointments are 50 minutes.
Session Fees (50 minute session):
Day rate: $220 (Mon-Fri, 9am - 5pm). After hours rate: $240.
If you are claiming a Medicare rebate, the out of pocket fee is:
Day rate: $121.05 ($220 - $98.95)
After hours rate: $141.05 ($240 - $98.95)
Concession rates may be available.
Payment is required on the day via card payment or bank transfer.
Medicare Rebates will be processed once your payment has been received (if you have your bank account registered with Medicare).
If you are utilising private health insurance, an invoice can be provided upon request.

Telehealth appointments are available Tuesdays and Fridays.
Oakwood Psychology takes your privacy seriously. Prior to the first session you will be provided with a consent form including information on confidentiality.
24-hour cancellation policy - Oakwood Psychology understands that there are times when you may need change your appointment. In order for the appointment to be offered to other clients, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Should a cancellation be made with less than 24 hours notice, 50% of your session cost will apply. Should no notice be provided, the full session fee will be charged.
Oakwood Psychology is unable to provide legal assessments or reports. Please disclose ongoing or upcoming legal proceedings at intake.
Oakwood Psychology is not a crisis or emergency support service. Phone and email communications are not monitored 24/7.
